I am a software engineer. That is still the first word I use for myself, and the one I would keep if I had to give up the rest.
The work has taken me from logistics at scale to medical devices and now to critical care AI. The through-line is consequence: software people depend on to be right. That rewards care over speed, which suits how I think.
The other constant is people. I have trained peers, run an internship program, and mentored engineers at every level, because a codebase is only as durable as the team holding it.
Artificer is the old word for a master craftsman, and that is the standard I am after.
